Sabbath Day Revelation: Spiritual Songs

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Master;

Ephesians 5:19

This Sabbath Day, I engaged in intense prayer. During that time, a wonderful spiritual song came forth concerning the Sabbath Day, but I did not stop to record the words. I am undecided as to whether I should do this with the spiritual songs I sing. Will I lose the moment in the Ruach if I stop to write?

As I wrote that question, this thought came to me. The Psalms more than likely began as spiritual songs. If the words were not recorded, they would not be available for us today. I would also venture to write that there were many, many more songs that David and others sang that were not recorded to share with others.

If YAH intends for the songs of praise, thanksgiving, and warfare to be shared with others, then He will allow me to recall the lyrics and tune. If they are only meant for me to sing in private praise, then I will not be able to access them again.

What are spiritual songs

When I was in the church, I was led to believe that spiritual songs were songs that were sung in tongues, an unknown language. I now understand that this does not always have to be the case. My current understanding is that spiritual songs are just that—songs inspired by the Ruach (Spirit) of YAHUAH Elohim. Our own language is perfectly fine.

Ephesians 5:20 continues to speak of songs, including spiritual songs.

Giving thanks always for all things unto Elohim and the Father in the name of our Master YAHUSHA Messiah

Ephesians 5:20

Pre-Trouble; Mid-Trouble; Post-Trouble

Paul says to give thanks with songs (psalms G5568, hymns G5215,spiritual G4152 songs G5603). There is no indication that our thanksgiving should be given only after overcoming. Thanksgiving can be pre-trouble; mid-trouble; or post-trouble. He and Silas sang mid-trouble praises while in a Philippian jail.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto Elohim: and the prisoners heard them.

Acts 16:25

Like many psalms and hymns, spiritual songs can be birthed out of trial, tribulation and/or persecution. They include praises and thanksgiving to the Almighty for who He is and for His great and mighty power. Spiritual songs extol YAH and His mighty acts of deliverance, provision, vision, restoration, restitution, rescue, liberation, and more, even during fiery trials.

YAH Inhabits Praises

The Psalmist wrote that YAH inhabits the praises of His people, Israel (Ps. 22:3). When YAH and not another ruach (spirit) inhabits our praises, that which is against us must flee. Yet, I do not believe that the psalmist was speaking of praising YAH from a happy, happy place. In truth, verses one and two of the same chapter speak prophetically of the suffering of the Messiah.

To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My El, my El, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

Psalms 22:1

O my Elohim, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Psalms 22:2

But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Psalms 22:3

Think back to the Levitical sacrificial system. Some of the sacrifices were voluntary such as the peace offering and the burnt offering. On several occasions, Scripture describes these willingly given offerings as a “sweet smelling savour” (see Lev. 1; Lev. 2; ).

Voluntary Praise

We also emit a well-pleasing, “sweet smelling savor” to YAHUAH when we voluntarily utter praise and thanksgiving even while squeezed and pressed by the wicked one. He continuously pursues our soul, but we continuously offer the sacrifice of praise to our Elohim.

These spiritual songs come from the very core of our being. We choose to praise YAH despite what we see and experience in this natural existence. The writer of Hebrews wrote of the sacrifice of praise.

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to Elohim continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

Hebrews 13:15

One key word in this verse is “continually.” This agrees with Ephesians 5:20 where Paul says to give thanks “always.” When faced with opposition, this can only be done with the unction of the Ruach (Spirit). Hence spiritual songs.

Magnification

David also wrote of magnifying YAHUAH in Psalm 34 and Psalm 69.

O magnify YAHUAH with me, and let us exalt his name together.

Psalms 34:3

I will praise the name of Elohim with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

Psalms 69:30

Focus results in magnification. We magnify YAH rather than wicked antics when we sing spiritual songs. As a result, we begin to have eyes to see, ears to hear and a heart to understand and know the infinite greatness of our Elohim. We cease to perceive the problem to be greater than Him.

However, we must choose. We cannot simultaneously magnify YAH and magnify whatever is sent to squeeze and press us. We only have the capacity to magnify one or the other. We cannot magnify both.

Songs or Sobs

Spiritual songs to YAH instead of spiritual sobs indicate our choice of who or what we choose to magnify. By the way, please realize that both are indeed spiritual (songs and sobs). Spiritual songs invite YAHUAH Elohim and His righteous presence into our circumstances. Spiritual sobs invite satan and his minions to a feeding frenzy. Feeding off what, you may ask?

While spiritual songs bring forth a sweet-smelling savour unto YAH, spiritual sobs emit death. An essence that is inviting to the wicked one. Pride, anxiety, depression, hopelessness, despair, fatigue, unforgiveness, revenge, are food for the gods and their demons. They feed on these and other negative emotions, which produce the energy that they need to feel alive and to legally to operate on earth in our dimension.

What Attracts What?

The smell of death attracts wickedness. A sweet-smelling savor in the form of spiritual songs puts us in the position of dwelling under the shadow of YAHUAH our Elohim. This brings life. Life and death each has different outcomes.

Six or seven years ago, an illustration came to my mind of how the wicked one works. I could see clearly in my mind the analogy of fishing. When we do any type of fishing, we put bait on a line and cast the line into the water where the fish are. If we have the appropriate bait for the fish we are trying to catch, sooner or later, a fish is tricked into biting the bait. We then yank the fish out of the water and have fish to feed on later.

Fishing Devils

This is the related picture that I had in my mind. Wicked entities in the second heaven constantly fish for the souls of mankind who reside on earth, our “pond.” We cannot see them. I am not sure if they can see us under certain conditions, just like we cannot see fish in the water most of the time. To catch souls, they too cast their “fishing” lines into our natural dimension. Their lines are fitted with all kinds of offenses, which is their preferred bait.

Like a fisherman in the natural, they patiently wait. What do they wait for? They do not wait for those emitting a sweet savor through their sacrifice of praise with spiritual songs. They know that they will not easily bite their bait. No, they wait for those belting out spiritual sobs, complaints, and murmurings and thereby emitting the smell of death, a delicacy to them.

Natural Resistance is Futile

Once such persons bite the bait of satanic influence, they are hooked and no amount of struggle through their humanity will set them free. These wicked entities in the second heaven then “feed” off the negative energies of these human “fish.” They siphon off their life essence by tethering themselves to their human fish-victim. Fear, among other negative emotions, is their cosmic glue that keeps the connection, the tethering to their prey intact.

If the person(s) is ignorant and oblivious to this demonic activity, they will be hooked and siphoned from all their lives. Depending on their genetic heritage and strength, this diabolical thievery can either take its toll quickly, or over the lifetime of the person.

This fear-based siphoning of human “fish” can be so subtle that the captured soul thinks they are a-okay and have a great life, with all the things of this world that they want and desire. This point really highlights Hosea 4:6.

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy Elohim, I will also forget thy children.

Hosea 4:6

Silly Fish

This time of year (October, the time of this writing) is prime fishing season for wicked entities. They do not even have to go looking for fish, because silly fish willingly come to their territory of death. Millions on earth foolishly wrap themselves in the trappings of death, decorate their homes and yards with death, and double foolishly expose their vulnerable children to tethering spirits of fear with all kinds of scariness.

Regardless of age, once a person becomes a captured “fish” there is no possibility of release and escape apart from the liberating blood of YAHUSHA the Messiah.

The Ruach of YAHUAH is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the Good News to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

Luke 4:18

YAHUSHA would not have said that he came to bring deliverance to the captives, if capturing of souls is not taking place here on earth, even now. We, who have accepted redemption by the blood of the Messiah, have been set free. This, however, does not prevent the wicked ones from continuing to pursue us. This also does not prevent us from forgetting that we have truly been set free.

Excellent Reminders

Spiritual songs serve as excellent reminders of the finished work of  Messiah YAHUSHA. They magnify Truth in our being and even in the atmosphere around our being. This spiritual practice helps us to remember what the Master said about Truth:

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 8:32

As I said earlier, once captured, there is absolutely no way to free ourselves from demonic tethering and siphoning of our nephesh (soul). Let me repeat. There is absolutely no way that we can break free using natural/self-centered means to be released from soul-sucking demons. It is impossible to resolve an issue of spiritual origin using natural means. Sure, we may receive temporary reprieve with natural methods, but not total freedom.

The ONLY WAY to escape is the ONLY WAY of escape.

YAHUSHA saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6

Here is one of many examples of the Messiah’s way of escape from soul-siphoning entities.

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

Luke 6:27

Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.

Luke 6:28

The Soul Sucking Stops

When we, in obedience, pray for our enemies and for those who despitefully use us, the soul-sucking stops in this area (There can be multiple siphoning ports). Demons have no more supply of negative energy on which to feed. On the other hand, the more we stew in anger, unforgiveness, wrath, hatred, in disobedience to the Messiah’s way, the more they suck and the more we decrease.

Here is another example. If we want to be hooked, tethered to, and sucked dry, we do these:

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Galatians 5:19

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Galatians 5:20

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Elohim.

Galatians 5:21

Follow the Way

If we want to avoid being hooked, tethered to, and sucked dry in the first place, then we follow the way of the Ruach (Spirit):

But the fruit of the Ruach is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Galatians 5:22

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Galatians 5:23

And they that are Messiah’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Galatians 5:24

If we live in the Ruach, let us also walk in the Ruach.

Galatians 5:25

Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Galatians 5:26

If we mess up, bite the bait, and get ourselves hooked and tethered, there is provision for deliverance through the Messiah. It is called repentance which is more than saying I’m sorry. True repentance means to turn from the death-producing behavior and turning fully to Elohim.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1 John 1:8

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:9

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

1 John 1:10

To be free, we do the opposite of our natural inclinations. On the other hand, if we want to be hooked by soul-siphoning demons, then we simply ignore the instructions of the Master who never contradicted the original instructions in Torah.

Agree and Do

In singing spiritual songs, we voice our agreement with YAH’s way. When we agree with and do YAH’s way of escape, we once again, or for the first time, are able to freely sing spiritual songs to our Creator. The Scripture says that those who worship YAHUAH (which includes spiritual songs) must worship Him in Ruach (Spirit, hence spiritual, hence spiritual songs) and in Truth.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in ruach and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

John 4:23

Elohim is a Ruach: and they that worship him must worship him in ruach and in truth.

John 4:24

The world’s truth is not truth at all. The world’s truth has no power to make us free.

  • The world’s truth says to take revenge.
  • The world’s truth says that man alone can solve all problems.
  • The world’s truth says that we are all gods.
  • The world’s truth says that we can live forever apart from YAHUAH’s righteous way.
  • The world’s truth says that we can have it all our way.
  • The world’s truth says that a saint is just a sinner.
  • The world’s truth says to look to man-made governing bodies to solve all societal problems.
  • The world’s truth emphasizes morality over righteousness.

All these “truths” have led the world into the unfulfilled, tormented, fearful, chaotic, senseless, sensual, home wrecked, wretched, core-family-busted-up state that the peoples of the world find themselves in today.

Prior to Ephesians 5:19, Paul makes a distinction between those who espouse the world’s truths and those who sing spiritual songs to YAHUAH Elohim.

  • Be ye therefore followers of Elohim, as dear children;  Ephesians 5:1
  • And walk in love, as Messiah also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to Elohim for a sweetsmelling savour.  Ephesians 5:2
  • But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;  Ephesians 5:3
  • Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.  Ephesians 5:4
  • For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Messiah and of Elohim.  Ephesians 5:5
  • Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of Elohim upon the children of disobedience.  Ephesians 5:6
  • Be not ye therefore partakers with them.  Ephesians 5:7
  • For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Master: walk as children of light:  Ephesians 5:8

Disqualified

Following, implementing, and adhering to the world’s truths totally disqualifies us from singing spiritual songs to Abba, our Father. Yes, that is a bold statement. Consider, however, Amos 3:3 where the prophet asks this straight question:

Can two walk together, except they be agreed?

Amos 3:3

There is no way in heaven or on earth that our Father agrees with the world’s truths. Therefore, we must ask ourselves another straight question:

Can we possibly think that YAH would inhabit spiritual songs sung to Him from unrepentant vessels who eagerly subscribe to the world’s truths?

Notice that I said “spiritual songs” in this question. We can still sing spiritual songs and even have hair-raising, goosebump feelings of euphoria. This is because we are in truth spirit beings.

The spirit  of man is the candle of YAHUAH, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Proverbs 20:27

The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

Proverbs 18:14

But we must be discerning as to what spirit is inhabiting our spiritual songs. If we are not following the way of Messiah, I can emphatically say based on the written word of YAH, the presence felt is not the Ruach (Spirit) of YAH, but another spirit.

And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:14

YAH is nowhere in such spiritual songs even though generational programming of religious teachings has led millions, if not billions to believe otherwise.

Conclusion

It seems that every time I sit down to write, I feel an urgency in my ruach (spirit) for the message of repentance. This Sabbath Day Revelation is no exception. Praise truly is a major weapon in our spiritual warfare arsenal. Spiritual songs are an even higher level of praise when they are birthed out of adversity.

Redeemed of YAH, I pray that this Sabbath Day Revelation inspires you to sing spiritual songs to YAHUAH no matter the circumstances. Offer up to Him sweet-smelling savor from a heart abundant in sincerity and truth. As a partaker of His everlasting covenant with Abraham through the blood of YAHUSHA, He does inhabit the praises of His covenant-keeping people. Every knee, circumstance, demon and opposition (internal and external), bows at the presence of the only true and living Elohim; the Almighty Elohim, the Creator of the heavens and the earth: YAHUAH ELOHIM
