Leviticus 2 Observations

Leviticus 2 Meat/Grain Offerings

Leviticus 2:1 Oil and frankincense are directly mentioned several times together in the same verses in Scripture: Leviticus 2:1, 2, 15, 16; 5:11; 6:15; 1 Chronicles 9:29; Nehemiah 13:5; Revelation 18:13. Oil is also linked with gladness in Scripture.

Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore Elohim, thy Elohim, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Psalm 45:7

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore Elohim, even thy Elohim, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Hebrews 1:9

Numbers 5:15 The Jealousy offering included frankincense but no oil. There was no gladness associated with this offering.

In the instances of oil that I have listed so far, it seems that the oil used comes from a third party. The flour, unleavened cakes and even the man in the Samaritan parable could not self-pour the oil. Even in Psalm 23, the Good Shepherd anoints the head of the Psalmist with oil. Our Good Shepherd has the oil that we need, the oil of gladness that only He can give.

However, oil and pride do not mix. When we puff up and raise up in pride, this is leaven. It is truly a sacrifice to humble ourselves, when our flesh wants to rise up and go and have its own way. When we do this, however, we go, do, have and be in an oilless state. When we offer humility and obedience, our Good Shepherd gladly pours oil on us.

Leviticus 2:4-14 No leaven could be brought to YAHUAH. vs. 4 unleavened wafers mingled with oil. vs. 5 fine flour unleavened mingled with oil. vs. 11 no leaven

Leviticus 2:11 No honey. Yet the offerings were a sweet savor to YAHUAH (Lev. 1:9; Lev. 2:9, 13, 17). Perhaps obedience in following YAH’s instructions is what rendered the offerings sweet unto Him.

Leviticus 2:13 All the meat offerings were to be seasoned with salt—no exceptions given. Messiah spoke of salt in these verses: Matthew 5:13; Mark 9:49-50; Luke 14:34-35;

Leviticus 2:1, 4, 5, 7, 15—Oil is also prominent in the grain/meat offerings. Messiah spoke of oil in these verses: Matthew 25:1-3; Mark 6:13; Luke 7:46-47; Luke 10:30-37; Luke 16:1-8.

Hebrews 2 Observations

Please, please comment below if you see ANYTHING that is contrary to Scripture that I have presented in these Scripture Observations. I want Truth and when I see that I have made a mistake, I want to correct that. No chips on my shoulders here.

I also ask one thing, though. Please, please present your thoughts in the context of two or three Scripture references, not just one (see Deuteronomy 17:6; Matthew 18:16; 2 Corinthians 13:1). One verse (especially one verse out of context) will not be received as evidence. I am just not one to interpret Scripture or accept other’s interpretation of Scripture apart from the written Word of YAH found in the whole counsel of His written Word.

I try my best to limit the use of the precursor words of “I think” or “I believe” without Scripture to back up my “I thinks” and “I believes.” Not only on this site, but be on the lookout anywhere else for excessive “I think” and “I believe” statements presented as Truth, with no Scriptural evidence to back up the statements.

The written Word of YAHUAH is the standard, the vanguard against deception which as you know is quite rampant these days.
